Over the past 50 seasons, Sunnyvale Community Players has staged
Cabaret several times because of its timeless themes, power, and ability to both entertain and move audiences. We invite you to join us for this special 50th Anniversary season production of a show that's so near and dear to us at SCP.
The time is the early 1930s and the place is Berlin, Germany. Cliff Bradshaw is a young American writer newly arrived and eager to work on his new novel. During a visit to the decadent Kit Kat Klub, which features entertainment hosted by the charismatic Emcee, Cliff meets performer Sally Bowles and his life is never the same. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary,
Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Featuring beloved songs such as “Wilkommen,” “Money,” “If You Could See Her,” “Two Ladies,” and the legendary title song,
Cabaret was nominated for a whopping 11 Tony Awards and won 8 of them, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
Cabaret opens this weekend with a champagne gala on Saturday night and runs only three weekends through November 18.
